History of DIBroker East

DIBroker East / Eskra & Associates is one of the three largest volume wholesalers of disability insurance in the country. We have consistently led the Principal Financial Group in disability insurance production (number one wholesale production every year since 1997), usually lead at MetLife and have consistently been in the top three with the Standard Insurance Company. We have agents licensed in all 50 states and have nine sales reps located throughout the Eastern and Central time zones

Michael J. Eskra, Sr., CLU, RHU formed Eskra & Associates in 1992 after running Provident Life & Accident’s largest branch office for 30 years. He was the second recipient of the W. Harold Petersen Lifetime Achievement Award given by the International Disability Insurance Society and has over 40 years of experience in the disability insurance industry.

Mike Eskra, Sr. has handed the day to day operations over to three of his sons, Peter, Michael, and David. Peter Eskra began his career in the P & C world before joining Paul Revere. He joined Eskra & Associates in 1996. He has been inducted into the Principal Financial Group Hall of Fame. Michael Eskra, Jr. joined in 1998 after beginning his career at Paul Revere and later at Principal. He has been very active in his local NAIFA and until recently was on the Standard Insurance Company’s Advisory Council for DI. David Eskra joined Eskra and Associates in 2002 after working as a clinical psychologist at the University of Virginia, where he also obtained his MBA.

DIBroker East

Michael J. Eskra, Sr was a founding member of the Plus Group, an organization formed in 1998 to promote independent wholesaling of disability insurance and to support national marketing agreements. The two largest producing offices in the Plus Group, Eskra & Associates and Koll-Lenhoff, left in 2002 to establish DIBroker, LLC.

DIBroker was created primarily to share support of two national marketing arrangements, ING and a bit later Raymond James. For these two accounts, DIBrokerWest supports the Pacifica and Mountain Time zones, while DIBrokerEast (Eskra) supports the Eastern and Central time zones. Outside of those accounts, we are free to support brokers who choose to do business with us, wherever they are located.
